The visual rendering of the CG model of the pavilion and the visual
components of the Poème électronique
was achieved through a mixture of real-time and off-line techniques.
Ambiances were pre-calculated in advance (e.g. its lighting state is saved to lightmaps for
performance boosting). The render engine performed a multi-pass render: the base material of the
walls was multiplied with shadowmaps and lightmaps for the basic light effects; then on this layer,
the video projection, the tritrous effects, lightning, sun, moon, cloud effects were added to
complete the rendering.
