Semantic annotation for Digital Editions
The main objective of this feasibility study is to verify the feasibility of a software system for creating and managing digital editions, enabling interoperability between annotation models and tools for content-based TEI XML (regarding the content text) and models and semantic annotation tools based on RDF. To achieve this we intend to identify and define a number modular tools that can talk to each other, a dialogue between the existing systems and share data (and metadata). The set of basic functionality identified in the draft should establish a working environment to which we give the name of ASED (Semantic Annotation for Digital Editions). Once defined the software specifications, ASED intend to foster the possibilities for coexistence and interoperability between different data models (mainly based on TEI and RDF or other recognized standards for digital content, such as ALTO and METS), tools for annotation, the tools for visualization and exploration of digital content. Features can be grouped according to the types of content and context of use:

1. Management of the edition of the text levels (diplomatic edition, critical) and multilingualism
2. Management of images (manipulation tools, text-image link)
3. management of 3D models (including model-image link)
4. textual search (keywords and facets) and semantic search (based on ontologies)
5. semantic annotation of contents (annotation and linking to entities)
